The F.A. Cup – 150 years

A film we produced to celebrate 150 years of the world's greatest and oldest Cup competition, The Emirates FA Cup. "A 150-year-old idea made for today".

The Challenge

We had two weeks to produce a launch film, from scratch, to celebrate the 150 year anniversary of The FA Cup, using 150 years to communicate why the Emirates FA Cup is more relevant than ever.

The Solution

The core of the creative was a script that reflected The FA Cup is far more than just a football competition; it represents hope, equal opportunity and inclusion – values that now, more than ever, we need in society.

To deliver the powerful script we wanted to use talent with credible association with football but also have the ability to comment on wider issues outside of football in order to maintain the premise of the film.

Enter iconic ex-Arsenal striker, Ian Wright, who did an outstanding job of fronting an emotive film that evolves into an uplifting celebration of the oldest competition in world football.

With very little time to deliver the project, we filmed over two days, combined with FA Cup archive footage from the first televised game in 1938 to the present day and pulled several very late nights in the edit to ensure delivery on time.
